How do I order a wedding cake?

When should I order my wedding cake?
Because I am the sole baker and cake decorator, I have limited availability. I recommend securing your date on our calendar six to nine months in advance. I always try to accommodate last minute orders, but once a week is fully booked I stop taking orders. If you’re wondering whether your date is still open, please fill out an inquiry form and I’ll let you know!
How much will my wedding cake cost?
Pricing is extremely dependent on design, but all buttercream cakes start at $7 per serving and go up from there. Simple buttercream cakes with fresh flowers have a flat fee of $7 per serving. Fondant covered cakes start at $8 per serving. I will give you a custom quote once we’ve discussed your wedding cake design together.
How do cake tastings work?
S. Richardson Cakes is a made-to-order bakery so I offer monthly tastings. You will get to try three preselected signature cake flavors. Tastings cost $40 which will be credited to your final wedding order. Email me for the next scheduled tasting date and I will book your appointment!
I want to serve desserts along with my cake.
Do you offer these?
Yes! I make a variety of desserts including cupcakes, cookies, parfaits, and other tasty treats. I offer dessert table packages for weddings, showers, and birthday parties. Let me know you’re interested, and I’ll go over it with you in more detail via email or during your phone consult.
Do you deliver your wedding cakes?
Yes! I offer delivery for wedding cakes of all sizes and require it for cakes three tiers and larger. Delivery is complimentary within 25 miles of Durham, NC if the order total exceeds $300. If the order is less than $300, there is a $50 delivery fee for the first 25 miles. After the first 25 miles, delivery prices will be charged at $2/mile.
